Happy New Year! I love the beginning of the year, for it is filled with hope, positive spirit, and the “I can do it” mentality. People try to erase the bad from the previous year, and have a new determination to make the coming year the best one yet. One of my friends shared this photo on Facebook, which I found to be hilarious:
It’s hilarious because it’s true for so many people, including myself. The excitement and anticipation for a new, and better year gets built all throughout the holidays, and certainly peaks at midnight on January 1st. But how many of us are truly able to maintain those resolutions and spirit beyond that? After the hype is over, many of us go back to old habits rather quickly. Change is always hard, and I’ve learned to keep my resolutions realistic in order not to disappoint myself by February. This year, I only have three resolutions for myself:
1. Be mindful and conscious about the food that I eat
2. Keep an active lifestyle
3. Avoid double standard parenting (I’ll have another blog post on this topic…)

This year, we were in Whistler for New Years Eve, where they had a 0% alcohol policy for the various celebrations going on in the village that night. Super family-oriented and kids friendly! At the kids’ countdown, which was at 9pm, there was a balloon drop as the kids danced to Gangnam Style while bubble wrap stomping. The ambiance was fantastic!
Happy 2013, and let’s try to keep that positive spirit alive throughout the entire year!
