For Bridgette’s 9th birthday earlier this year, Alan and I gifted her a trip to Disneyland. Alan is bewildered that our daughter has not outgrown Disney yet, so I had to manage his expectations by reminding him that his 39 year old wife hasn’t outgrown it either. 🙂 It’s hard to outgrow a place that brings out the inner child in you, no matter your age! I still get excited about Disneyland, as long as we avoid the crowded summer and holiday months.
We decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency again since we had a pretty good experience with them last time around. This time, as Hyatt Gold Passport members, we had an even better experience! They upgraded us to a suite, and when Bridgette proudly announced to the front desk attendant that we were there for her birthday, they gifted us free shuttle passes to/from Disney! Yay!
Our first afternoon was spent by the pool, even though it was quite chilly. A little cold never stops Bridgette though when it comes to swimming, and she happily flipped and flopped in the pool while her daddy tried hard to stay warm in the adjacent hot tub. 🙂
Though we were there to celebrate Bridgette’s birthday, the fact that it was a belated celebration meant the days overlapped with Alan’s birthday on March 3rd, so we also celebrated him with a delicious Korean BBQ dinner on our first night there.
The next day, we got up bright and early for the “Happiest Place on Earth!”
After 12+ hours at Disneyland, we pretty much crashed the minute we got back to the hotel. I’m not sure where we got the energy to wake up early again the next morning, but we did, and day 2 included half a day at Disneyland and the other half at California Adventures.
And here’s the video that Bridgette edited from our trip!
