Exactly one month from today, Mimi and Brianne will be moving back to Hong Kong. Every time I think about that, my heart feels like it’s breaking into a million pieces. I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s the truth.
I haven’t lived under the same roof as my sister for 18 years. In fact, we haven’t lived in the same country for 15 years! To spend this last year together in the same household, with our girls, has been the greatest blessing for us in so many ways. The first few months were hard…and reminiscent of our teenage years where our sibling rivalry was at its peak. My sister and I are polar opposites in many of our personality traits, so learning to live together again was challenging. But, along the way, a few miracles happened and brought us closer together than ever. We learned a lot about each other through this short year, and I’m seeing her and appreciating her in a whole new way…
Needless to say, the best part of this year has been for Brianne and Bridgette to share an unforgettable kindergarten year together. Despite the occasional quarrel or two, they have gotten together tremendously well under the same roof. They do everything together, and genuinely love one another’s company. There are few things that I adore in this world as much as watching the girls interact with one another…they way Brianne rolls over laughing at Bridgette’s jokes, the comfort they give one another during sad times, their combined creativity to create the funniest projects around the house…..gosh, I could go on and on.
Before I start weeping again, I should start finalizing the adventures that we’ve planned for their last month here. I’m so back logged on posting everything that we did since the beginning of 2013, so here’s a photo recap of more fun activities we had the last few months….
Brianne’s Farewell Party with her Kindergarten Class:

Cherry picking on a rainy day:

We quickly found out that my sis and Alan were good tree climbers, I was a good spotter, Brianne was a good catcher with the bucket, and Bridgette…..well, Bridgette was a fantastic taster! 🙂

Cheering for the Giant’s this season:

Ethan’s 1st birthday celebration:

As much as we love a great adventure, we also love our day to day moments where we just enjoy what we have around us….
