Happy World Turtle Day! Turtles and tortoises are such magnificent creatures, but sadly, many of their species are now endangered. One of the most mind blowing facts that we’ve learned about turtles is that after they hatch on beaches around the world, they migrate around the sea for years, but they always return to the exact spot where they were born to mate and lay their own eggs. Scientists believe they are able to do this using their range of senses, and their incredible sense of magnetoreception, which is their ability to detect the Earth’s magnetic field.
