The country of Montenegro was not really on our radar until we decided to go to Croatia. We headed the fortified town of Kotor after our time in Bosnia and spent 2 days just in the Old Town. We decided to trek up to the fortress for a view from high up but had to abandon our mission mid way once it started raining. Still, the view from the half way mark was mesmerizing enough to make it worthwhile.
I’ve come a long way since I first learned to drive in Europe. From blowing out my transmission and having to call for help in Cannes to driving fearfully in the storm in Toulouse to unknowingly getting a ticket in Geneva to having to pull over every few minutes as an attempt to dodge large trucks in Dublin…I successfully drove from northern Croatia to southern Croatia this time, including two stops in the countries of Bosnia and Montenegro!
While in Croatia, we took a side trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2 days and were pleasantly surprised by its charm and beauty. We stayed in Mostar and really enjoyed its friendly people, scenic landscapes, and bustling marketplace.
Thankful to my mom for her selfless love, incredible strength, and words of wisdom for my sister and I through the years, which we are now trying to pass on to our daughters as well. ❤️
My Mother’s Day reflections as a mom to a teenager…
When she was young, we called her our water baby because she could be in the water all day, everyday. She lived in her swimsuit and flip flops and loved soaking up the sunshine whenever she could. I still think that island life really suits her but our city life in the Bay Area has also contaminated her. 😆 It’s nice to see her back in her element while island hopping in Croatia.
