Back in July when my parents were here from Hong Kong, we took a short family trip to Big Sur. Having lived in the Bay Area most of my life, it’s quite surprising that we’ve never made it down there sooner. It’s amazingly gorgeous, and the perfect getaway where we didn’t have to deal with security checks, delayed flights, and overpacked luggages.
My sister booked a lovely mountain home through TripAdvisor…a beautiful, cozy home overlooking lush, green mountains and the coast. It was even more magical in the early evening when the fog began to roll in. The moment we stepped foot onto the property, we felt like we were millions of miles away from civilization.
There were 2 stories to the home, with the upper floor being the communal areas + 1 bedroom. There were 2 additional bedrooms downstairs, and both rooms led out to the backyard which had a lovely view and an outdoor jacuzzi.
We didn’t really have an agenda for this trip, which was nice. In the morning, I laid low on the deck with my book, and got to snuggle with Bridgette for a bit. Cell phone reception was terrible in the area, and wifi was spotty, so it was the perfect chance to disconnect ourselves from the world and focus on the present…..something we really should be doing more often!
This is one place we plan to go back to….. we love you Big Sur!
